Balançafro was introduced in early 1965 by Cauby Peixoto as the b-side to Inútil Paisagem and on his album Cauby Canta Para Ouvir e Dançar. The song is a typical, albeit later, representative of the enormously successful sambalanço style, which by this time was already fading away.
Balançafro was recorded three more times in the year of its release, by Neyde Fraga with orchestra by Francisco Morais, by Waldir Calmon and by Corisco e Os Sambaloucos. Luiz Bandeira himself apparently did not record Balançafro.
